God you have called us from among the peoples and nations of the world to be your own. Thank you for the love that you have shown us by leading us to your service. Help us to live as people who are in but not of the world, that we may be light to others and bring you glory and honor. Amen

God you send us to be lights in a dark world. With the power of your Spirit and your Word, we have the courage to confess our faith in your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.

Oh God, In Saint Peregrine You give us the example Of patient suffering, Of fidelity to prayer in spite of pain, And of dedication to helping the sick. I humbly ask That through Peregrine’s love for the sick You will comfort me in my illness, Through the help of his prayers You will strengthen me in my weakness, And through the example of his patience You will enable me to cope with my cancer. Though his intercession help me To open my heart to your healing love, And so come closer to you. Amen.

Weary after walking, You sat down to rest. Thirsty at the well, You asked for a drink. Exhausted in a boat, You slept in the storm. Sad at Lazarus’s death, You wept at his tomb. In anguish at Supper, You wanted to die. Afraid at the garden, You sweated blood. Dying on the Cross You gave a loud cry. Lord, you understand My weariness, My fear and pain. Comfort me again And again. Amen

When I’m not feeling well, And tired, I can get so down, Down with others, Down with myself, Down with everything, My spirit withers within me. I become like a flower in a dry land, Desperate for rain, Just wishing to feel better, So I can enjoy my life again. Lord, make haste to help me, Send the showers of your love upon me, So that like flowers refreshed in rain, I can lift up my drooping head, And rejoice in you instead. Amen

The disciples cried out in Panic when their boat was almost sinking, aroused from your slumber You calmed the storm, and all was peace again. Lord, I cry out to you, too, to arouse you from your slumber. Lest the waves overwhelm me, as it's all too much to bear. One minute I can feel fine, the next I'm struggling to put on a smile. Lord, calm my storm within. Let me know your gentle peace, like a calm river on a Summer's day. Amen

You put up with my moods, Lord, when it all gets too much, and others don't seem to understand, when I'm lifeless as sand, not at peace, not at rest, lacking in zest, without any go, because something's not right, through what I don't quite know. Then somewhere in my heart, gently you remind me I'm precious to you, that you are my friend. A few moments with you make all the difference. Your friendship keeps me going. Amen

Grant me, O Lord, good digestion, and also something to digest. Grant me a healthy body, and the necessary good humor to maintain it. Grant me a simple soul that knows to treasure all that is good and that doesn't frighten easily at the sight of evil, but rather finds the means to put things back in their place. Give me a soul that knows not boredom, grumblings, sighs and laments, nor excess of stress, because of that obstructing thing call "I". Grant me, O Lord, a sense of good humor. Allow me the grace to be able to take a joke to discover in life a bit of joy, and to be able to share it with others. Amen - St. Thomas More

Lord, thank you for the generous gifts of your love given without conditions, a love that does not count the cost. To all who open their hearts to you you never refuse the gift of your love. May our hearts rejoice in thanking you for the abundant goodness you share with us, for the love you give to all. Amen

Lord, as a water lily opens itself to the sun, so may we open our hearts to you, to give you thanks and praise. For like the sun shining down to nurture and give life, so you shine down on us with the light of countless blessings, blessings beyond measure.

Lord, I am not worthy to receive you in my heart, so full of unkindness, but only say the word and I shall be renewed. Lord, I am not worthy to receive you in my being, so full of selfish ways, but only say the word and I shall be healed. Lord, I am not worthy to receive you in my soul, so full of pride, but only say the word and I shall be made whole. Amen

Thank you, Lord, for the precious gift of my family. I ask you to bless them, protect them, and give them strength to cope with their own struggles in life. They have surrounded me with their love. Enfold them, Lord, in your loving care, this day and always. Amen
