Gracious God, we confess that we cannot come to your by our own strength. Thank you for coming to us through Jesus Christ. Continue to draw us to your word and enlighten us with your Spirit. Lead us to trust in your grace alone. Amen

Lord, I cry out to you, too, to arouse you from your slumber. Lest the waves overwhelm me, as it's all too much to bear. One minute I can feel fine, the next I'm struggling to put on a smile. Lord, calm my storm within. Let me know your gentle peace, like a calm river on a Summer's day. Amen

Grant me a simple soul that knows to treasure all that is good and that doesn't frighten easily at the sight of evil, but rather finds the means to put things back in their place.
