My God, I believe in You;
please strengthen my faith.
All my hopes are in You;
please secure them.
I love You with my whole heart;
teach me to love You daily more and more.
If I I have offended You; increase my sorrow.

I adore You as my first beginning.
I aspire after You as my last end.
I give You thanks as my constant Benefactor.
I call upon You as my sovereign Protector.

Grant, O my God,
to conduct me by Your wisdom,
to restrain me by Your justice,
to conform me by Your mercy,
and to defend me by Your power.

Lord, I believe in You: increase my faith.
I trust in You: strengthen my trust.
I love You: let me love You more and more.
I am sorry for my sins: deepen my sorrow.

I worship You as my first beginning,
I long for You as my last end,
I praise You as my constant helper,
and call on You as my loving protector.

Guide me by Your wisdom,
correct me with Your justice,
comfort me with Your mercy,
protect me with Your power.

Blessed are you,
Mother of my Lord,
For you have believed the Word of God.

In faith and love,
You have pondered the Words and actions of God
In your life and the life of God's people.

With Jesus we call you mother.
Pray for us,
And ask your Son to lead us to the Father.

Amen.

O holy Apostles, Peter and Paul,
obtain for me, I pray you, lively faith,
firm hope, and burning love;
patience in adversity, humility in prosperity,
purity of heart and resignation to the will of God.
So, by means of your intercession and your glorious merits,
I may be able to overcome the temptations
of the world and the devil,
and be made worthy to appear before Jesus Christ,
who with the Father and the Holy Spirit
lives and reigns for endless ages,
to enjoy His presence and love Him forever.

Amen.

Lord – I am so often … what’s the word?
… frustrated by the poor results
of my efforts to get to know You.

Like the rich young man, I can say,
“All these things I have done since my childhood.”
- Mass, prayers, attempts at talking to You
and listening to Your – the lot.

The psalmist puts the words on it for me:
“Lord, why do You keep silent?”
From the days of Job until today,
people have wondered: “Is the problem
that we are asking the wrong question?”

Lord, although I am so often assailed by doubts,
give me today and tomorrow enough confidence
and certainty to take the next step.

Open my mind and touch my heart
that I may really come to know
that the words of the song are true.

Lord, I know You are near.
Your are always on my side.

O Lord, put me on guard against my human weaknesses.
Let me cherish Your love for me,
keep Your law, and come at last to Your salvation.

Teach me to realize that this world is passing,
that my true future is happiness of heaven,
that life on earth is short,
and the life to come eternal.
Help me to prepare for death with a proper fear of judgment,
but a greater trust in Your goodness.
Lead me safely through death to the endless joy of heaven.

Grant this though Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Be with us,
Lord, tonight.
Stay to adore and praise,
and give thanks for us while we sleep;
to draw down mercy and grace upon the world;
to give strength to the suffering souls
in purgatory in their long night of waiting.

Stay with us,
to guard the innocent,
to sustain the tempted,
to raise the fallen,
to curb the power of the evil one,

Stay with us,
to comfort the sorrowing,
to bless the death-beds,
to grant contrition to the dying,
to receive into the arms of Your mercy
the thousands that this night
must come before You for judgment.

Holy Immaculate Mary,
help all who are in trouble.
Give courage to the faint-hearted,
console the sad,
heal the infirm,
pray for the people,
intercede for the clergy,
have a special care for nuns;
may all feel,
all enjoy your kind and powerful assistance,
all render you honor,
and will offer you their petitions.
Hear all our prayers, O Mother,
and grant them all.
We are all your children:
Grant the prayers of your children.

Amen

Hear my voice,
for I speak for the multitudes
in every country and in every period of history
who do not want war
and are ready to walk the road of peace.
Hear my voice
and grant insight and strength
so that we may always respond
to hatred with love,
to injustice with total dedication to justice,
to need with the sharing of self,
to war with peace.
O God, hear my voice,
and grant to the world your everlasting peace.

O Good Shepherd,
stay with Your sheep,
Secure them against the perils that beset them.
Stay, above all,
with the suffering and dying.
Grant us a quiet night and a perfect end.
Be our merciful Shepherd to the last,
that without fear we may appear before You as our Judge.

Dear Scholar and Martyr,
it was not the King of England
but you who were the true Defender of the Faith.
Like Christ unjustly condemned,
neither promises nor threats could make you accept a civil ruler
as head of the Christian Church.
Perfect in your honesty and love of truth,
grant that lawyers and judges may imitate you
and achieve true justice for all people.

Amen.

Jesus, we know You are calling us to follow
You just as You called Your first disciples.
You need us. You want us to be Your hands,
Your feet and Your welcoming smile.

We tell You that we are too young,
too inexperienced. That won’t work.
You want us to imitate Your Mother
who, while young and inexperienced,
said “Your will be done.”

We could claim old age. We can’t walk very far.
Or we can hardly seek or hear.
But then we read about old Simeon
who spent all his old age
waiting to greet his Messiah.

You want all of us to continue
as your disciples no matter our age.
We can always put a feeble hand
on another’s trembling shoulder.
We can spread Your message
in so many ways.
You don’t want to be stuck in a tabernacle.
You want to be out among us
working through us and with us.
We thank You for asking us to be
an important part of Your plan,
and important part of Your Kingdom.

Amen

- Columban Fr. Gerald Wilmsen

May you walk with God this summer
In whatever you do,
Wherever you go.

Walking with honesty and with courage,
Walking with love and respect
And concern for the feelings of others.
May you talk to God this summer
And every day
And in every situation.

Praying words of praise for the beauty of creation,
Saying prayers of thanks for friends and good times,
Asking God's help in all your decisions,
Expressing sorrow when you have failed.
May you talk with God every day.

Amen

Let me love You, my Lord and my God,
and see myself as I really am:
a pilgrim in this world,
a Christian called to respect and love
all whose lives I touch,
those in authority over me
or those under my authority,
my friends and my enemies.

Help me to conquer anger with gentleness,
greed by generosity,
apathy by fervor.
Help me to forget myself
and reach out toward others.

Make me prudent in planning,
courageous in taking risks.
Make me patient in suffering,
unassuming in prosperity.

Keep me, Lord, attentive at prayer,
temperate in food and drink,
diligent in my work,
firm in my good intentions.

Let my conscience be clear,
and my conduct without fault
as I live my life glorifying You
until the end of my days.

Lord Jesus Christ,
I consecrate myself today anew
and without reserve to Your Divine Heart.
I consecrate to You my body with all its senses,
my soul with all its faculties,
my entire being.
I consecrate to You all my thoughts,
words and deeds,
all my sufferings and labors,
all my hopes, consolations and joys.
In particular I consecrate to You
this poor heart of mine
so that it may love only You
and may be consumed as a victim
in the fire of your love.
